ICOA Stock Analysis Competition Submission Requirements
Develop a report in which you analyze a public company.
In your submission, include the following points. Headings and structure can vary.
- Introduction
- Company name, symbol, and description
- (optional) Summary of analysis
- Recommendation (long [buy] or short [sell])
- Business Analysis
- (optional but may include) SWOT analysis, business strengths relative to similar companies, management, industry dynamics, market share, past trends and predictions, competitive advantages, M&A, and/or history
- Financial Analysis
- (optional but may include) analysis of debt/liquidity, financial strengths relative to similar companies, dividends, return on capital, valuation (metrics, discounted free cash flow, or other methods), profitability/margins, share repurchase/dilution, past trends and predictions, capital expenditures, inventories, goodwill, and/or taxes
- Conclusion
- Summary of analysis
- Recommendation (long [buy] or short [sell])
- (optional) 1, 3, and/or 5 year price target with reasoning
Make sure to cite all sources of data at the end of your report: these can be links or MLA/APA/Chicago style citations.
Submissions will be evaluated based on understanding of the company, depth of analysis, and accuracy of information. Strong submissions include thorough business and financial analysis.
Submissions should be in either .pdf (PDF) or .docx (Microsoft Word Document) form, and submitted here. All submissions are due by June 31st at 11:59pm PST, after which the submission portal will close.
The following will be announced in early July:
- 1 Grand Champion receiving a $100 award and custom glass plaque
- Up to 2 Honorable Mentions receiving a $25 award each
